In the 2020 census, the city had a population of 101,475 people, and it was located in the Sacramento Valley region of Northern California. Demand for coding and computer science-related jobs is expected to increase in the future years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.


By delivering free coding lessons, software training, and computer science-related courses, Bay Valley Tech is helping to close the technological divide in Chico and the Bay Area. While previous coding experience is helpful for program participants — we do not require it. The Code Academy Program is a community-based program that takes about 7 months to complete. This hybrid learning program provides a combination of online and in-person instruction.
